The Hospital
Founded in 1889 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Sacred Heart Hospital is a regional tertiary care center, providing state of the art care in rehabilitation, neurosciences, cardiovascular, cancer, stroke, and robotic surgery, where every life is sacred and every human being is seen as a unity of body, mind and spirit.
The Family
Matthew Hubler presided as Executive Vice President and CEO of Sacred Heart Hospital from 1974 to 1998. Matt served the Franciscan Sisters for almost 25 years, delivering their Mission: To provide healthcare to the sick, the poor and the needy, regardless of race, creed, or ability to pay. Matt and Carol have been married 54 years and have 4 children, 7 grandchildren.
The Endowment
The Matt and Carol Hubler Family has established an endowment to assist the hospital and the Sisters with the ability to provide care for the poor and needy in the spirit of St. Francis. They have special empathy for the unique struggles of single parent families and those battling cancer. Working with the Hospital’s established Community Care program, annual grants will be made to provide financial assistance for a patient who is a single parent or a dependent of a single parent receiving cancer treatment at Sacred Heart Hospital.
The Personal Calling
“One More Day” has become a daily toast for Matt & Carol as an expression of gratitude, as they face the daily challenges of living with cancer and for being granted yet one more day. It is their hope that through this fund, many more will be able to make that same toast with their loved ones.
Our Request
The Hubler Family has established the “One More Day” endowment fund through their own personal investment. They wish to extend its impact by inviting you to add to the endowment. As the fund grows, so does its ability to provide financial assistance to those in need. Your contribution would add to the corpus of the fund, providing larger assistance grants.
Your Response
Friends of Sacred Heart, a division of Hospital Sisters of Saint Francis Foundation, has established the “One More Day” Endowment on behalf of the Hubler Family, to steward the contributed funds and insure they are distributed according to their wishes.
